"We think happiness is what we get when attachment gets what it wants. Buddha says happiness is what we get when we give up attachment."
In August 2018, during Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s teachings in Portland, students of Ven. Robina met with Rinpoche and requested practices for her health and long life.
Rinpoche advised particular practices that people can do: reciting the Tse Dö ~ Long Life Sutra and offering Medicine Buddha pujas, as well as practices to to be done at Drubthob Rinpoche’s monastery in Kathmandu. Later, in September, Rinpoche also recommended additional pujas to be done at Osel Labrang, Osel Hita Rinpoche’s labrang at Sera Je Monastic University in South India.
If you would like to offer recitations of the Long Life Sutra or Medicine Buddha pujas, please email any recitations or completed practices to Kate Macdonald firstname.lastname@example.org. We’d also love to receive any photos of you doing the practices, in groups or individually.
If you would like to join the mailing list to be updated on the practices for Ven. Robina’s health, please email Kate: email@example.com.
1. Tse Dö ~ Long Life Sutra
You can read the sutra on your own or in groups. We need to complete at least 60 recitations.
2. Middle-length Medicine Buddha Puja
Rinpoche recommended this as a group practice — but I’m sure it’s okay if you want to do together on Skype, FaceTime, etc.
Practices to be done at Drubthob Rinpoche’s monastery in Kathmandu:
3. Drolma Yuldos puja and the reading of the Prajnaparamitra Sutra
These practices will be done in October and we will keep everyone posted once they are completed.
Practices to be done by senior monks at Osel Labrang in South India:
4. Five Extensive Medicine Buddha pujas + Mamur Trulku puja
These practices will be done in September and we will let everyone know once they are completed.
