Sherab Plaza: Guru Rinpoche Statues

Another of Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s recommendations to help remove obstacles to Sherab Plaza was for Ven. Robina to make three Guru Rinpoche statues, which she cast in plaster from molds at Rinpoche’s home Kachoe Dechen Ling, in Aptos, California.

Every weekend between the end of October 2006 and January 2007, Ven. Katy Cole worked on the statues with Tibetan artist Kunkhen Sherpa, a former monk who trained at Kopan. They sanded, glued and prepared the surface of the statues for the fragile process of applying gold leaf to the bodies and painting the faces. The gold leaf was offered by Dr. Angela Wang.

The statues were consecrated by Geshe Ngawang Dakpa in February 2007.
