I’m all over the place!

QUESTION

Hi Robina, I hope you are doing well.

I have a simple question – I feel like there has been so much going on with me for the past several months, that I’ve lost touch with the Dharma, and wondering how I get it back. I have my little altar in our house here but I don’t feel like I have the same connection that I used to have. I’m not sure why. My mind goes at a 100 miles an hour and it’s a challenge to relax at the moment.

I have been working nonstop so much of my energy goes there and there have been issues with this situation. Plus having a house, husband, new puppy – it doesn’t sound like much but I do struggle at times! I feel like I run from thing to thing. I know most people are like this in this world. I’m just a bit lost with my Dharma practice and connection.

Love,
S xx

ANSWER

Good to hear form you, dearest S.

I understand how your life is carrying you away!

But it’s always something, isn’t it? Look back over the years we’ve known each other. There were problems when you didn’t have a job, when you didn’t have a husband, and now there are problems when you do!

The answer? To remember that you’re in charge, not your circumstances. So, be strong, be disciplined, start a little practice again. Even if five minutes morning and night, like two bookends for the day. Take control!

That’s the answer, honey!

Much love,
Robina

QUESTION

Thanks Robina, I understand what you mean about there being always something. I am always complaining about something!

I find it extremely difficult to take control sometimes, to put in boundaries. I always try to do my best and please others. I just find it too much at times – that is, it’s hard to control my mind when the various circumstances become difficult, and not to feel overwhelmed, angry, upset, and guilty for feeling these feelings. But that’s the work isn’t it?

Love,
S

ANSWER

Yes, S, you have a big heart but when it’s mixed with attachment to being a good girl, you’re all over the place.

But not only that. One of the functions of attachment is never being satisfied with what we’ve got. This is huge!

Try to do a morning and evening practice, no matter what. You’ll be glad. You get satisfaction, then, not from trying to make others happy but exercising your own potential, your own wishes. Of course, the motivation long-term is to benefit others.

Give it a go!

Love to you,
Robina

QUESTION

Thanks Robina, I will do my practice.

Yes I am all over the place! I do try to benefit others, but my priority is just for me to hold it all together, so to speak!

I pray my practice will help my mind.

Love,
S
